Or you had several companies try to start their own streaming services from scratch and thought you needed a ton of new shows to fill it. Disney+ could have easily gotten away with archived Disney Channel shows, all the animated Disney cartoons, the old Star Wars & Marvel movies, and the Simpsons. It didn’t need a lot of the new shows, no matter how cool they looked.

If graphics were with it, people would pay for it.

The fact of the matter is that exponential graphics capabilities requires an exponential input of developer and asset creator budget. Given that there is a ceiling on game prices, it isn’t worth it going for higher fidelity games when the market isn’t going to pay for it.

I don’t see the benefits but I see drama this would cause.

Banning cell phones for soldiers on the front line has become common since the phone transmissions are used as bombing targets.

However, the blackout of YouTube for the civilian populace is mainly for control purposes, especially as Ukraine is fairly active on YouTube.

I’ve seen some content creators having a discord channel that is pay to get into where the content creator participates in it as a way to generate additional money. I suspect Reddit wants to do something similar and take a cut of fee.

And I fully expect this to devolve into becoming a new OnlyFans.

Got to get content somehow.

I feel like the option has been working in a bullpen like area for one or two days a week.

You get a lot more of the small questions that people ask in person but seem resistant over Teams or a phone call.

You also get to hear other interactions, which can be valuable. Seeing someone else go through a new task can be a learning experience, or you can see someone else struggling with a task and help them.

You don’t really get that in corporate mandated fun time, and introverts need the time to better get to know others as they slowly open up. That said, the value of face time goes down from 2 days a week and there is some value in having alone work time.

Yeah. If management isn’t going to show up, then there isn’t a reason for everyone else to show up.

That said, there are benefits to having some face time with people that you don’t get from full remote. It just has to be done in a thoughtful way.

For one I thought both Kurzgesagt and CGP Grey where on here only to learn they both backed out of the project.

It is probably better that those two backed out. Based on comments from the creators that remained, both Kurzgesagt and CGP Grey weren’t good partners and seemed to want to make the business a lot more exploitative of the other talent.

I also look at it like this, Grey has had over a decade to build the kind of business Wendover has but didn’t. Grey has posted 6 videos in a year. Wendover Industries^TM does that in a slow month.

They had a really good yearly subscription price at one point.
