This in my opinion is one of the valid use cases of a blockchain/NFTs: they provide provable ownership of digital goods. This means that if implemented, in the future we could actually own games music movies ebooks etc. The only remaining step would be a decentralized torrent-like system that allows the users to download the licensed content that they own via their nft.
I mean… couldn’t they just move the old files from the hot CDN to cold storage? I bet the few people that go check at old messages care that much about the loading speed of a screenshot. And honestly I think PR wise deleting memories from people makes for worse article titles than smaller files

Yeah it’s really stupid when all the alerts use the highest priority mode. It is literally the same thing as a kid calling wolf. Like, I don’t need to be woken up in panic mode because my phone decided to play the emergency alarm at 4AM because of an AMBER alert. Especially when that alert is 10 hours late. This happened last week btw. Luckily this time I didn’t get waken up because I learned my lesson from the last time and set my phone to the proper do not disturb mode.
It cannot be embedded the same way as blink to use other front ends, instead they need to be forks of Firefox with customisations that need to be maintained every update
It would be really great if Mozilla could pick Servo back up, and make it Firefox’s engine, and make it like chromium, where the engine and browser are not so tighltly coupled together. GNOME Web could be so much better if it had the performance of Firefox.
It would be really cool if instead of having to install more app stores, the App Store app was like fdroid: a front end in which we add repositories. There would of course be apples repository installed as default, but on top you could just enable epic game’s repository or the store’s repo.
I don’t even understand how apple charging a 1.5eur fee to app installs made outside of their store is even legal under the dma? I truly think apple is the most evil company out there, it’s INSANE how anti consumer they are and they still get away with it. And it really sucks that they are so evil because their hardware is best in class, and there are many parts of their software that I want the others to copy, for example the fluidity and polish of all the animations is still unmatched. I use a Mac for work, and it is genuinely so much better than anything else, with the only thing holding it back being MacOS and it’s stupid “philosophical” decisions that are just plain stupid (i.e. no way to separate cursor acceleration on a mouse and a touchpad, no way to enable natural scrolling on a mouse and touchpad separately, no way to fully maximise without using full screen).
I couldn’t imagine being a moderator there, the amount of shit they must see uploaded has to be enormous. This would apply to every media-oriented instance but due to their nature I am guessing it’s worse
I’ve never been a CEO of a company worth billions, and statistically, the likelihood of you being one is very very low. The truth is you have no idea what she did in her day to day life. I think the reality of it is she was probably working way over 40 hours a week because of the expectations from the alphabet shareholders. If she is paid millions, as an investor, id want the CEO to be working their ass off to give me a good return on my investment

Firefox supports MV3, with some tweaks such as the WebRequest limitations added by Google’s MV3 being removed from the Firefox implementation. I don’t think they will remove it
It’s the kind of thing that in a few years you’ll be glad to have because some tasks will be offloaded from the GPU to the NPU, one I can think of is the background blur in video conferencing software or microphone noise suppression
Every affected company should be extremely thankful that this was an accidental bug, because if crowdstrike gets hacked, it means the bad actors could basically ransom I don’t know how many millions of computers overnight
Not to mention that crowdstrike will now be a massive target from hackers trying to do exactly this
One big “advantage” (for the companies) of NFTs is that the emitter can take a commission or fee every time the NFT is sold. This can kind of alleviate their fears of people buying from each other instead of buying a new copy. I think that’s a fair middle ground for owning a fully digital copy, between physical copy that companies don’t want and digital copy that consumers don’t want.
