When I was a kid they taught penmanship too. I was awful at it but then when I was an adult I had a job where I actually had to use those skills and I was glad to have them - same with everything I learned in Home Ec, most the stuff I learned in wood/metal/auto shop, etc. I think all of those classes are extinct now, based on how people talk about school never teaching them anything useful.
And IIRC it was after they had made a bunch of practical effects, so it’s not like it was saving them money or anything. The execs literally just said “re-do these parts but worse”.
Maybe your body is digested over a thousand years because the Sarlaac doesn’t catch very much prey so it has evolved a hyper-efficient digestive system and sits dormant most of the time, but also once you’re in Luke’s right and you’ll actually die of crushing or acid burning or dehydration.
But they also call it “The Almighty Sarlaac”, which to me implies that this is all folk knowledge. So maybe “be digested over a thousand years” is just what Tatooinians believe will happen to anyone who falls in.
Even if Luke’s right, it’s not like being held down by tentacles while stomach acid slowly burns every part of your body until you finally die of dehydration doesn’t sound pretty painful.
My first thought was “this is a much easier way for a Vampire to eat than stealing from a blood bank.”
The whole IP paradigm needs to change. I can accept the logic that IP needs to exist in the first place so that people who invent something can get paid (at least in our current system) - but the term should be shortened to something like five years, or if it’s going to be longer there needs to be a list of events that immediately invalidate it, including the product no longer being legally available. IP shouldn’t be able to be traded between companies like a commodity, and it shouldn’t be able to be locked up to prevent it from going into the public domain.
The days of modular components in cars is nearing an end.
It’s a shame, because with EVs especially modular everything should be a whole lot easier than ever before. I guess it took a decade and a half for governments to force smartphones to be able to be jailbroken or use the same messaging protocol, hopefully we see a similar evolution on EVs where these locked down features get forced onto common standards.
The best copilot can do is autofill lines that everyone’s written a million times. That’s not nothing, but it aint replacing a human brain any time soon.
amazon cloud CEO reveals that they have terminal CEO brain and have no idea what reality is like for the people they’re in charge of

Actually all of the TOS films are great.
Ten years before they pulled this. Hopefully the cookers can be used without the app.
electric trains are an over one hundred year old technology.
lol. lmao, even.
The Soviets had an “apartment swap” system for people who wanted to move around filled-to-capacity neighborhoods. You would get on the list with where you currently lived and put in where you wanted to move and would get informed when there was a match. Sometimes matches would be arranged in triangles or other more complex shapes, but since everybody involved needed to get on the same page this was rare. The wait to move depended on how lucky you were - sometimes you’d get a match right away, sometimes you’d forget about it until ten years later when you would get a letter asking if you were still interested.
This was all in the 60s and 70s when things were generally more chill.
What’s wild is that if you replaced them with a single payer system or whatever else, you would still have a lot of bureaucratic work that needs to get done by the new system, so most if not all of those jobs would still exist - they would just shift from trying to deny people care to trying to connect people to care.
Plus the cockpit doors lock. Which can turn out to be a double-edged sword if the pilot has a breakdown and decides he wants to take everyone else with him.
I think with most Dems (including Bernie) it’s a case of terminal being old and not understanding what they’re doing. Basically every single internet bill is written by corporate lobbyists and handed off to be rubber stamped.
Also how the everliving hell do you add AI to input devices?
They won’t, but they figure there are probably still some investors floating around who will buy that stupid line.
I think you could be right, but it depends on the details Nintendo comes out with. I remember people were saying that they thought certain Palworld monsters had been ripped from the Pokemon games and recolored - if Nintendo can demonstrate that, then that’s a slam dunk for them.
But if it’s just creature designs and collecting them, then I just don’t think that “a cute monkey with green fur” is a novel enough concept to be defensible against someone else doing something similar.
